2009 Mideastern Region VOP News:
August 15, 2009 - A Spiritual Reflection day was held with members of the District Council of Covington, reports Ed Vogel.
July 19, 2009 - The Mideast Region VOP Workshop was held on Saturday, July 18. There were 40+ attendees. "Some had knowledge of the Voice of the Poor Program," said Ed Vogel, VOP representative for the region. "We presented the 10% Workshop with additional information on starting Committees." The Voice of Poverty video and Ron Meyer's presentation were shown. In addition there was a review of resources including: the VOP website, Capwiz system, VOP DVD and guidebook.
February 2009 - Ed Vogel reported at the VOP meeting at the Catholic Social Gathering in WAshington, DC that donations are down with store receipts down nearly 30%. Kentucky has had a tough winter and the recent ice storm and closing of several plants. VOP is coordinating their response with other providers of safety net services. He identifies 19 VOP committees in the Mideastern Region.
2007 Mideastern Region VOP News:
Ed Vogel was recently appointed as the VOP representative for the Mideast Region, replacing Jerry Vaal. Thank you Jerry for the VOP support and welcome Ed to the VOP National Committee! (September 2007)

VOP Evansville Diocese Taking Off!
Deacon Michael Morris reports on the VOP meeting (9/20/06): “I just got in from Evansville and our monthly meeting….We are dividing among ourselves and going to conquer the Position papers…Our six members are to go home and read and come to an ownership or offer suggestions of modifications. Think about Benchmarks, Objectives, and Actions to reach the Local actions…I am to come prepared to discuss one of the Social Justice issues. Other's to follow. After we self train we are to each bring someone (Looking right now) to the monthly meeting. Develop ideas to recruit computer literate members…. issue driven folks. (Evansville VOP Mini Guide has been developed.)
Spreading the Word on VOP
April 2006 -- Deacon Michael Morris, Diocese of Evansville is preparing a presentation on the Voice of the Poor for presentation at the Mideastern Region Conference. It is a mix of National information and local efforts.
